2014 Summer - Northrop Welcomes

Newark Christian School, Newark, NJ

After lunch we headed off to Mt Everett State Reservation. Photos were taken at a overlook and at the peak. As we hiked we stopped and talked about many plants including some fruiting hair-cap-moss, puff balls, clintonia with poisonous berries that are blue, Potentilla tridentata that is only found on mountains or in Northern areas.

Afterwards we stopped to see the lake where they caught a frog. They were careful to release it unharmed.

Friday

Breakfast at Northrop. Then the students helped us take down the tents at Taconic State Park and cleaned up the tent sites before they left. We packed up, and cleaned up at Northrop. We hung the tents in the library to dry before leaving. We were all tired but happy that we able to have the time with the students.
